The benefit for the morphy family has ended but their lives are just beginning. There are so many people and businesses that we would like to thank, as this event would not have been possible without their efforts and support. The grapevine restaurant was incredibly helpful in creating an inviting atmosphere as well as a meal that was delightfully scrumptious. The ellicott creek fire hall's banquet faciility gave us an area that was both beautiful and centrally located for our many guests. The donation baskets and prizes made from so many people and businesses were greatly appreciated and instrumental in the success of the benefit itself. We would especially like to thank the many volunteers some of whom we have never met came in support of chris and jody. We are on our way to establishing this family once again but there is still a long road ahead. We are currently looking for property to purchase as well as hiring area builders who are ready to create a new "dream home" for the morphy's. Thank you just doesn't seem enough, as we know that the accomplishments made to date would not have been possible without the out-pouring support from everyone in our local community.

Dear Friends,

On April 21st & 22nd our whole world crashed down around us. Our home, the heart of our lives, was destroyed by "Earth Movement" of our property. The earth literally moved from under our feet. Our home was left uninhabitable, soon to be condemned. Our yard collapsed into Tonawanda Creek. Our normal everyday existence has been uprooted just like the trees and flowers that used to surround us.

Due to insurance mumbo jumbo, our homeowner's policy of 24 years was deemed to not cover any of the damage, leaving us with nothing with which to restore our lives.

In addition, we have been told to expect many state and federal fines and penalties for having our belongings fall into the creek below.

The situation worsens, as we have to pay to have our home demolished before our eyes! This will cost a very large sum of money, putting us even further "in the hole"!

Our friends and compassionate strangers have come to our aid. Many people have put their lives on hold to help us through this disaster. We are so grateful to so many that have come forward to help us in so many ways.

We are very self-reliant people who have always been able to help others when they were in a bad situation. Never in our wildest dreams did we think that we would be asking for help for us in such a drastic situation.

A trust fund has been established at Citizens Bank to help defray the huge expenses we face.

Our many, many thanks to those who have opened their hearts and pocketbooks, especially in these tough economic times.

Our friends have been busy arranging for a benefit to be held June 20, 2009 at Ellicott Creek firehall, to raise capital to let us at least try to avoid financial ruin.

We would gratefulllly appreciate your participation in this benefit on our behalf.

It is the outpouring of generosity and kind deeds that has enabled us to endure in our darkest days.

We ask that you take a moment to look around you and realize that love and caring of others will sustain you as it has sustained us.
